I then used Metroid: Other M to update to 4.3, and now I'm back to a working Wii. I then needed to create a new setting.txt file using SettingEdit īooted up the Wii with BootMii, launched the NAND Formatter ELF file, told it to use the settings from the txt file on the SD card, and it formatted and install all the required WAD files. I also used the NUS Downloader, and grabbed the WAD files as mentioned in the readme.txt Ĭopied those WAD files to the wad file on my SD Card.
The source is still available so one could compile it. I found a copy of the Comex NAND formatter. So not to be that guy that says "fixed" and doesn't say what I did. It was a lot easier than expected but seems this information either has gotten lost amongst all the forums and other posts. I hope it helps and not too confusing for you, also welcome back to the scene :D People may have different ways and I am sure I can be judged on these sources, but this is where I personally look for them. I usually look at WiiBrew or ModMii for things I need however, it is better to get it from the author's itself such as GitHub or it's website when it is still available, but if it's something no longer updated and the site has went down, Wayback Machine is where I look.

The reason it needs a mod chip is so the Wii can read burned discs and the community found a way to boot games with that method to fix Error 003 or other bricks. It needs a disc with an update for it to be useful, so in your case, and if you know your Wii is not 4.3, you should just be able to get a Wii game disc in that Wii's region with a 4.3 update (some might say those released after 2011). This is because the method is to boot the Wii to a special Recovery Mode that only shows the Wii's version on boot up when performed. I would say to put this as a last resort. HBC did have changes with its Title ID and Bootmii might be trying to boot a wrong one however, looking around WiiBrew, Bootmii relies on the SD Card to boot, so theoretically speaking, you can just replace the /bootmii/armboot.bin from a later version. If it doesn't, use Bluebomb to get to the Homebrew Channel and use AnyTitle Deleter to delete a channel that might cause an issue. Hold Reset and see if it boots Priiloader. If it loads, but pressing A does not, you might have a Bannerbrick. If it does not load the Health and Safety screen, then it may have problems with the System Menu and/or the IOS needed for that System Menu. Processing on what you said, it looks like you do have Bootmii installed as boot2 which does look promising. It does boot into BootMii when loading up the system. So any help on this would be appreciated. Im usually pretty good at this stuff but I’ve been out of this space for a while and a lot of guides I have found on this process don’t seem to apply to my exact scenario or a lot of images, and links to software are missing and finding mirrors of the software hasn’t been easy. I’ve seen some other options out there that require taking apart a GameCube controller but I think requires a mod chip still. Sadly I don’t have the original NAND dump on this system.įrom what I can see my only option is to dump the bad Wii’s NAND and the other systems NANDs and use Betwiin to create a compatible NAND to flash on the broken Wii. I have 3 other Wii’s currently that are hacked and in various states. The version on BootMii about page says 1.1 if I remember correctly.
From what I think I’ve read it’s an older version of BootMii and so the HBC titleID does not match as at some point that changed. The issue is it won’t load anything else, not even the HBC. I have an old Wii that I am attempting to use.
